I never thought about this, but I read a person's paper that talks about how Disney movies stereotype bad in there movies. After reading the paper I completely understand where she is coming from. Who would have ever thought that Disney would portray bad stereotypes.
Throughout her paper she talks about various movies and the characters that demonstrate the stereotype. She had some really good ones in there like the gorillas from Jungle Book talking like black people, the siamese cats in Lady in the Tramp actually having Asian features. She gives a lot of good points that demonstrate what she was saying.
Parents always think that if it's a cartoon or from Disney it has to be fine to watch. This could be very wrong because children learn things that influence their stereotyping at a very young age. I believe she said that children between 2 and 5 years of things like race and gender. It's amazing what you learn about things that seem so innocent that turn out to be very stereotypical.

Southpark and Stereotyping
The show South Park is very humorous, but one of the most controversial shows ever. It because of how they depict certain things like sex, violence, and the main thing they pick at stereotypes. The show in general picks on stereotypes, but the antagonizer is always Cartman.
I love the character of Cartman because he is very outspoken. He says pretty much what's on his mind all the time reguardless of who it offends. He is always stereotyping jews because Kyle is a jew. The stereotyping that gets put into this show range from jewish people to japanese people.
In the last few episodes that I have seen they have stereotyped Japanese, gays, and bikers. They don't really do it in a nice way either. They actually do it in the rudest way they possibly can. I can't believe the show has been able to keep going, but it does and I think its funny so that's good for me.

Sex Stereotyping
I have never heard of this sex stereotyping until I read on the internet about this firefighter suing the fire department because of unfair treatment he was getting for being a trannsexual. I guess this case changed the face of sexual discrimination laws in the U.S. The case changed it from discrimination based on group membership to discrimination on nonstereotypical behavior.
I feel that this guy had every right to sue the fire department. It wasn't like he was bringing that aspect of his life into the work place. This is just another case of homophobia on the attack because they find it wrong.
I do think that if him being a trannsexual was affecting his performance at work then fire him. I highly doubt that was the case since it changed laws around. I feel that the fire department discriminated against him purely because they know of him being this. That is what is wrong and affecting the work place is all of them are doing this instead of there jobs like they should be doing.

Summary of the looks
The first look was the look that I had been for most of my life with a few alterations, so that would be the one that I was most comfortable in. I feel with this look that people when they first stare at you judge you as kind of a loser and don't really have much reguard for you. The people that have actually given me the time of day know that I am layed back and fun to be around if you just get past the looks.
The second look I didn't get much feed back besides the girl that I've never talked to talking to me. It was kinda disappointing, but at the same time I didn't get no looks like the first one so maybe thats what people perceive as normal. Either way this is the one that I felt least comfortable in because I feel like I'm something that I'm not.

I didn't realize who close to a girl I felt with straightening my hair pretty much every day and applying makeup. The Last Transformation Home
Today I woke up pretty excited to see what people back home were going to say. I got all my things ready and waited for Katie. On the way back home we were talking about what people were going to think and how they were going to take it. She also addmitted to not wanting to shave my head, but it didn't look bad. She then turned around and said she likes my hair long.
When we first got back Katie wanted to see the reaction that I was going to get so she came in with me. My dad was the only one home yet again, but I think he was in shock when he first saw me because he didn't say anything. When he did finally speak he said didn't I know that I'm supposed to shave my head in the summer and grow it out in the winter.
Next stop was my mom's work. I was really intrigued to see how she was going to take it. I didn't get to see her very first face, but Katie said that her mouth just dropped when I passed the window. She asked what I was this week a skinhead. I told her that's exactly what I was this week. I then went on to tell her about the quest I was doing. She was relieved that last week was a quest because she was a little worried about me. I hung out for a little bit and people kept coming in asking if I had lost a bet.
I then went home to show my sister what I had done. When I walked into the living room her face had a look of discust on it. I went and sat next to her and she told me to get away because I was just as creepy now as last week.
The next day I went to Wal Mart in Denison with my mom. I was curious to see how I would be looked at since Denison is dominantly Mexicans. As I walked through Wal Mart I noticed how the Mexican people just avoided staring at me. Later that night I went out with Justin to a little get together with some of our friends still in high school. When I walked up I told my friend Steven to bite the curb and he replied that I did look like someone that would do that. Then my friend Brandon came up and said I needed to lace up red shoe strings and wear shorts then I'd be more skinhead. Day 22
Today I woke up and realized that my ears were freezing. Right then I thought man this was a bad idea, but then thought that it wasn't that bad and my hair will grow back. I went and showered to jump start my day. When I got out I got out the boots that I have barely worn and busted out the plain white tees. When Katie got there we waited for class by watching tv.
When it was time to leave I walked outside for the first time without hair and it was a different feeling on my head. We jumped in her car and headed to class to see the response. When we walked in instead of taking double takes they just stared at me. I felt a little uncomfortable but I managed. No one really looked at me after that.
After class we went and got a bite to eat. I didn't get much response out of the place, but then again I didn't really figure it was anything new. I did however get a couple of glances out of people that were eating, but nothing significant.

Day 21
Today is the day that I make my final transformation. I was glad that the makeup part was over because taking the eyeliner off every night was becoming very tedious. On the way home Katie and I were talking about how People were talking this weekend about how I looked. When we got to my house I found my brothers hair clippers and it was go time.
Katie asked me if I was sure one last time. When I told her I was positive she knew it was time to cut. She tried to just cut but she thought my hair was to long so it wasn't cutting. She then started just cutting it down with scissors. After she cut it down she tried the trimmer again. When it didn't work this time she said that it must just be dull. I threw on a hat and we went to Wal Mart to get a new trimmer.
When we returned Katie went to town on my hair. After she thought it was done she told me to jump in the shower and wash off the hair to see if she needed to shave anymore. I went straight to the shower without looking in any mirrors and showered. When I got out I finally seen what I looked like with a shaved head, and to my surprise I didn't look that funny. I did notice that there were some spots that she missed so she fixed them.

Today was the day that I was going to test out my new look with my friends. I didn't want to do my own makeup so I asked my sister if she would do it. She hesitantly said yes and started with the lower eye. After applying it to the lower eye she asked if she could just put masquera on the top because thats what she started out doing. I told her I'd try it and she started with my left eye. She put it on just fine with the exception of me blinking too fast and getting it everywhere. After we fixed that problem she was applying it to my right eye and got too close and poked me. After trusting her again she finally got it on. It actually looked better than the eyeliner on top. After we were done my sister asked if she could use my eyeliner because she didn't want to go get hers.
After I got all dressed up for the day Katie texted me and asked if I wanted to go to denison with her. After I told her I would I waited for her to come pick me up. She threw on the eyeliner and straightened my hair then we were off. We were taking off a little later than usual so she was a little crabby. The whole way home she kept saying how creepy she still thought I looked.
When we got home she wanted to see the reaction I got so she came in. My dad was the only one that was home at the time and was talking on the phone. When he noticed me he got real close to my face and asked if I was wearing makeup. I told him yeah I liked the way it felt. He laughed and called me a fag then went to smoke.

Day 16 (Best Day of Stereotyping so far)
I woke up today and decided not to shower because I don't think that will be able to straighten my hair. My brother was home on leave and said I looked creepy, and I hadn't even applied my eyeliner. He asked if I wanted to go to Best Buy because he wanted to get a new cd. I told him that I had to apply my eyeliner and I will. As I was in the bathroom applying it he came in and just shook his head.
When we got to Best Buy it didn't really feel like anyone was staring at me. My brother said that he had to get Pink's new cd for his girlfriend so he went to the rock section and I went to the new album section. I took one of the free booklets that said what was coming out, and flipped through it as I walked over to Matt. I didn't feel like looking anymore so I shoved it in my pocket. Shortly after the security guy came over and said that "someone" claimed to have seen one of us stick something in our pockets. I smiled at this because I knew exactly what it was, so when we emptied our pockets I told him that I shoved the booklet in my pocket but since it said free I thought it was ok. He said that it was fine and walked away. Matt came up to me and said this is what you were waiting for. I smiled and said that this was exactly what I was looking for.
After Matt picked out the cd he wanted we took off for home. We sat around watching TV for awhile. Matt realized that he needed to go to Wal Mart for something and asked if I wanted to go. I said yeah I didn't have anything else to do. When we walked in Matt asked if I payed attention to people around me. I told him yeah not knowing where this was going, but he said that the greeter guy gave me a dirty look. Today was the best day in my quest because I finally had stereotyping come to the surface.

Katie showed up a few hours later, and we said our goodbyes. On the way to Ankeny Katie kept asking me if I was sure that I wanted to do this. I kept telling her that I was positive, but she kept asking. I think it is because she don't want me to dye my hair black or something.

As the day went on I still hadn't gotten ahold of anyone. I was sitting watching TV with my siste when she asked what was up with me looking like a jock. I told her that I wasn't trying to look like a jock, but I didn't want to tell her what I was doing so I left it at that.
It was starting to get dark outside when I finally got a text back from Justin. I asked him what he was up to, and he said that he was just out at his house. I went out there where him and his brother were watching TV. When I walked in they both asked why I was so dressed up. I told them that I wasn't dressed up for anything.
